Automatic discovery of server settings can fail on Apple Macs when trying to setup emails using STACK servers. Here is how to apply them manually.

These instructions should not be confused with older email accounts not using the STACK servers. For older mail accounts substitute the stackmail records for mail.yourdomainname for both incoming and outgoing servers.

Start your mail program

A choose Mail account provider dialogue box will appear, or if an account already exists you will need to start adding an additional one by Clicking Mail > Add Account…

Select Other Mail Account

Click Continue

An Add a Mail account dialogue box will appear. Add your details;

Name e.g. John Doe
Email Address
Password

Then click Sign In

Mail software will be unable to find mail servers automatically and will report “Unable to verify account name or password.” To set the mail server details manually;

Make sure Account Type is selected as IMAP

Set Incoming Mail Server: imap.stackmail.com

Set Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.stackmail.com

Then click Sign In.
